Six Different Ways to Get Windows 7

Just like Windows Vista, Microsoft has announced that Windows 7 will come in multiple "flavors" tailored to the needs of a particular user or organization.

Ultimate: The complete version of Windows 7 containing all the abilities and features of all the versions below cobbled together, truly for the power user or computing enthusiast!

Enterprise: This version is for volume license customers (medium to large corporations, schools, etc) which have the abilities to access a corporate network with special VPN software, and can lock and encrypt USB flash drivers and other portable data containment devices.

Professional Intended for small businesses or work-at-home employees, this version can be purchased individually. It contains advanced backup capabilities. and harddrive encryption.

Home Premium Most customers will probably be seeing this installed on consumer computers, this version will INCLUDE Media Center, the Aero Glass theme that made Vista *look* flashy, a new media library storage feature, and built-in touchscreen support so long as you have the compatible hardware.

Home Basic This is announced to be the "plain vanilla" version of Windows 7, with none of the more advanced or fancy capabilities from any of the versions above. It is likely that this version will only be seen launched in third world nations.

Starter Edition The super lightweight edition. This is expected to run on MHz-anemic systems such as lightweight laptops and netbooks. it is expected to only have very limited abilities such as being able to only run 3 programs concurrently. There is expected to be a re-imagined superfeathertweight version of the Windows taskbar that many of us have grown used to.
