Asked how these programs get past anti-virus software, Mr. Obert explained, "It is very difficult for a virus scanner to protect users from self-inflicted wounds caused by their clicking. If you are clicking these prompts, thus installing rogue software on your system, you are inadvertently circumventing your antivirus protection and infecting your system."
